At the end of November we welcomed a delegation of the Mayors of Amsterdam and Haarlem, as well as heads of 18 regional companies, to our AMS1 carbon neutral data center in the Netherlands.
Eberhard van der Laan, Mayor of Amsterdam and Chair of the Amsterdam Economic Board, joined Bernt Schneiders, Mayor of Haarlem and our Managing Director Eric Boonstra to discuss drivers for economic growth in the Greater Amsterdam region.
As our project manager datacenters you are on top of all phases of the project cycle, work hand in hand with the EvoSwitch team and are responsible for the result / outcome of the project. You are responsible for designing project content based on management priorities, planning, managing and execute projects with colleagues from EvoSwitch Directors, Operations and Datacenter Development. Projects vary in size and type and relate to (re)building of EvoSwitch datacenter(s) and infrastructure.
Amsterdam, January 10 2012 – EvoSwitch Datacenter has today officially been added to the list of colocation providers with an AMS-IX Point of Presence (PoP). In addition to being an AMS-IX collocation connecting with multiple 10GE, EvoSwitch will be the first datacenter of its kind for which AMS-IX uses a single 100GE backbone connection.
EvoSwitch, who became an AMS-IX reselling partner in 2010, already has connected numerous networks and built a solid reputation and experience in the interconnection market. The state-of-the-art and energy-efficient site has 10,000 m² of space and is located in the Amsterdam region, with close proximity to the main airport of the Netherlands. Today, EvoSwitch serves more than 35 regional carriers and thousands of hosting, telecom, IT and enterprise customers.
EvoSwitch, a next generation and carbon-neutral datacenter, is participating in the Storage- and Security exhibition on the 2nd and 3rd November 2011 at the Jaarbeurs in Utrecht, Netherlands. This event allows EvoSwitch to demonstrate its ability to support customers with storage requirements, both simple and complicated.
The Storage Expo is organized in the same hall as Infosecurity.nl and the Tooling Event, and is an important event for our industry. We expect to speak to IT managers and CIOs looking for advice or debates about storage, access and data security issues. We are more than happy to discuss our experience with datacenter building, tackling key issues such as CAPEX and OPEX, as well as flexible power and cooling processes. The team members manning our stand and who are eager to meet you include Stijn Grove (Sales Manager), Ronald van Muijden and Olivia Blanco from the sales department, and Steve Ramdharie, our Carrier-Relationship Manager.
As referred to in previous blogs, innovation is always at the forefront of our operations. During the event, we aim to talk to customers and prospects about their experience and future plans relating to cloud storage, archiving, backup and data duplication, data protection, virtualization and storage resource management. Another driving force behind the company is the way we handle connectivity requirements. We are carrier neutral, but Steve helps our clients to make the right choices with regards to their connectivity requirements. By providing these types of services – and not losing our neutrality – we have managed continuous growth over the last years.

Here at EvoSwitch we are very proud to officially be a 100% carbon-neutral datacenter. We know that its really important to our customers that we do everything we can to minimize our energy-usage and keep our carbon footprint as low as possible, as highlighted by our Green Fan Program.
These datacenter values are central to the Green Data Center Conference, which takes place this week from 25th 27th October. Held in London, the conference addresses issues and trends affecting green datacenters across Europe. It provides attendees the chance to connect with leading datacenter and IT executives across the three-day program of workshops, presentations and networking receptions. Offering a unique opportunity for the datacenter industry, the conference will bring together industry spokespeople and corporate delegates to address the latest environmental trends and considerations affecting datacenters today, such as power usage, cooling, and modular building.
EvoSwitch is recognized as one of the most energy-efficient datacenters in Europe. In addition to being climate neutral, the datacenter is also carrier neutral. Ourcustomers already have a choice of more than 35 international carriers, with thisnumber set to increase to over 50 on-site carriers by the end of the year. Thisensures we provide the best available options in connectivity to our customers, who in turn then prioritize their telecom providers and build a global infrastructurethat really fulfills their requirements best.
Choice in connectivity is absolutely critical to companies looking for a trulyredundant infrastructure. Our datacenter is conveniently located in the Amsterdamregion next to one of the largest internet hubs in the world, AMS-IX, and is thusclosely connected to a large number of trans-Atlantic fibers. And thanks to therising number of supplying carriers, connectivity within the datacenter is alsosignificantly increasing. Carrier neutrality means independency and transparencyfor customers, ensuring they have real freedom of choice in working with a provideror even a combination of providers. This way customers can get the best globalinfrastructure and connectivity, rather than just being able to choose from a selectfew.
We are happy to welcome Level3 to EvoSwitch Datacenter. Level3 provides a comprehensive suite of connectivity services and have signed a contract with EvoSwitch to start delivering from our datacenter
Connectivity within datacenters significantly increases with the number of carriers. We now house over 35 carriers at our location in Haarlem, including carriers such as Global Crossing, euro fiber, BT, KPN, Tele2 and Cogent. By the end of this year we expect to house more than 50 carriers on-site, ensuring customers the best available options in connectivity. With the addition of Level 3, we are well on our way to reach that target.
