EvoSwitch is really excited to play host to an array of customers on the 23rd of November at the Jopenkerk in Haarlem. At our Carriers & Partner event, we will bring together over 80 of the most successful IT / Telecommunications companies in the industry. During this event (the unofficial Capacity Europe after party if you will) we will give you a short update on the current technical and commercial credentials within EvoSwitch and other subjects (sustainability and modular datacenter building).
We will tell about what we are working on and the commercial possibilities with datacenters. The event will involve the chance for carriers to intensify the relationship with the EvoSwitch team, learn how to use the EvoSwitch datacenter to win bids, network with other customers and listen to presentations from representatives across the business.
EvoSwitch is a carrier neutral datacenter – meaning we offer our clients the choice between various providers for their connectivity and voice. Often datacenters refer to carrier neutrality as soon as they offer customers the choice between two or three local carriers. The linguistic purist would say: Do they have a choice between carriers? Yes, they do. So they have every right to use the term carrier neutral. However, would the industry agree? We dont believe so.
At EvoSwitch, customers have the choice of at least 45 national and international carriers. This number is steadily climbing to reach an even more impressive number of on-site carriers by beginning of next year. The same goes for connectivity. If you make sure that your clients clients have the opportunity to choose different types of connections from different carriers, then you can truly claim neutrality. Thats our view anyway, and the reason why weve been working to be able to provide all types of connections, from Internet Access to ISDN30.
We hope that our attendees will be able to profit from our best practices, and they will be able to convince their clients and peers that a carrier neutral datacenter has numerous advantages when it has all its certificates (ISO-, NEN-, UAE- and PCI) in order. Here are several further compelling reasons to help them spread the word:
Whether its an internal system, a Software as a Service, Infrastructure as a Service, Platform as a Service solution or a plain old customer facing website, your client is placing critical information and infrastructure in a datacenter, and in doing so he is expecting (demanding) 24/7 accessibility and availability.
Cost of Connectivity
Competition drives down prices, that much is clear. People choosing a carrier-specific facility will be locked into that carriers product offerings for bandwidth for as long as they remain in the facility. Since moving can be difficult and costly, this means they will probably pay more for bandwidth in a carrier specific facility over time.
Every carriers network is different. Fiber and copper cables travel different routes and the electronics used offer different features and benefits. Placing ones systems in a facility where all carriers are available means that customers can take advantage of the specialized routing and feature sets offered by each of the competing carriers at any time.
Once you make the investment in time and money to move your web servers to a datacenter, you probably will not want to make the move again. On the other hand, problems with your carriers network could force you to do so. In a carrier neutral facility, you can make a carrier change when needed, whereas your options are limited to just one carrier in a carrier specific facility.
While it is true that most carriers have their own datacenter, they are often not up to par with regards to the latest security policies. If you are an enterprise organization or have enterprise clients you will need to be aware of its required security policies. If you are working with clients that are either in the top 150 of the Netherlands or host clients that operate within that margin you will need to know about ISO-, UAE-, PCI- and NEN. A facility such as EvoSwitch makes it its business to know how to help you out.
